The hat is knit in the round beginning and ending with a twisted rib. The colorwork pattern will show off a beautiful handspun or gorgeous bright indie dyed yarn. Raid your stash for some worsted, dk, or one of each. Ideal for worsted, DK or one of each. Tips and notes included for color work knitting, substituting DK weight yarn, and adjusting the fit and hat style (beanie or slouchy), plus alternate brim options.
 
The Grange Hat compliments the The Grange cowl. Giving you a options to either knit a matching set or one or the other. 
 
The Grange is named for a special farm to table spot in Duvall, Washington where an evening wrapped up my amazing trip to the PNW visiting amazing friends.
 
Yarn
Designed for worsted or dk weight yarn.
Total yardage: 90 (109, 115, 152, 184, 214) yd / 83 (100, 105, 139, 168, 196) m. 
• MC: Uses 61 (73, 77, 102, 124, 143) yd / 55 (67, 71, 93, 113, 131) m
• CC: Uses 30 (36, 38, 50, 61, 71) yd / 27 (33, 35, 46, 56, 65) m.
Note: If you choose to knit the alternate rolled brim, you will need closer to a full skein of MC (218 yard / 199 m).
 
Samples Knit in Primrose Yarn Co Journey Worsted (100% Non-Superwash Merino, 218 yd / 199 m, 100 g) in Bourbon (MC) and Black Truffle (MC). And Primrose Yarn Co Homestead Worsted (100% American Superwash Wool, 150 yd / 137 m, 50 g) in Rusted Root (CC) and Westworld (CC).
 
Needles
US 6 / 4.0 mm 16” / 40 cm circular needle 
US 8 / 5.0 mm 16” / 40 cm circular needle and DPNs
Note: If knitting with DK weight yarn, you will want to go down 1-2 needle sizes when you follow the pattern; there are notes in the pattern.

The hat is worn with 2” / 5 cm of negative ease. If you are between sizes, you may wish to size down. See notes in pattern for more modification tips for the best fit.
