Heat Waves = Thirst Quenching Sips

Hope your July is off to a great start after a holiday weekend which I hope was spent doing some things you love! It has been hot and humid here and I've been drawn to some refreshing sips to shake up the basic plain water.


This past weekend I really found this Blueberry Lime Mocktail to quench my thirst while outside enjoying the sunshine!


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup blueberries fresh or frozen

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 4 oz Fresh Lime Juice

  • Carbonated water, club soda, mineral water

Blueberry Simple Syrup:

  1. Combine in a saucepan the blueberries, sugar, and water over medium heat for about 30 minutes, stirring frequently.

  2. Allow the fruit syrup to cool then transfer to a pouring cup or jug.

  3. Pour the fruit syrup through a mesh sieve strainer, into a mason jar.

  4. Smash the fruit with a spoon to release any juices remaining.

  5. Squeeze the juice of one lime into the syrup and stir.

To make a blueberry lime mocktail, fill a glass with ice.

  1. Add 2 ounces of blueberry lime syrup to the glass.

  2. Top with your preference of carbonated water, club soda, or mineral water.

  3. Garnish with a few blueberries and a slice of lime if desired.

  4. Store any unused syrup in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

You could absolutely make this a cocktail if you wanted to. I would recommend your favorite clear liquor for this flavor profile. You can replace the sparkling water or even do half and half.
